HERITAGE HILL MEN'S CLUB 2024

Message from the Chairman

We successfully closed out the 2024 HH Men's Club events this past Saturday. Congrats to Dalton, Scott Squires, Brian and Hardy for a well played tournament. Congrats to Brian for a very impressive year in winning the overall points championship. Also, I believe our Maywood Cup match with the Maywood guys is still on. We will be contacting them and finding an open weekend to get it in. It's a 12 vs 12 (club vs Club event) over a Saturday and Sunday usually in late Sept early October. There are several automatic qualifiers and several captain picks. If you qualify Nick will be getting with you in the coming weeks to check on your availability. I believe the season went smoothly outside a few handicap hiccups that we seem to have every year. We as a board strive to make every single event as fair as possible. And we get many suggestions over a season. All I ask when bringing suggestions to the board. Is play devils advocate with yourself. What could go wrong with your suggestion. (Because I promise you, if there is a problem with your suggestion-it will come up). One thing we agree on and logistics still need to be hammered out for 2025. Is playing within flights. So that you all will only be competing against similar players. Remember to continue to put scores in. Handicap police are always watching. ;) Thank you again, Jeff Sweet

Singles Match Play

Maraman Captures Title in Epic Battle A day that began with a dramatic display of thunder and lightning proved to be a fitting prelude to the epic battle that unfolded on the rain-soaked course. Delayed by morning showers, the match between the two top contenders was a thrilling spectacle from start to finish. Maraman seized the early advantage with a birdie on the first hole, one of his six in the match. He maintained his lead until the eighth hole when Stef fought back to tie the match. The back-and-forth continued, with Maraman regaining the advantage on the tenth hole only to see Stef level it up again on the thirteenth. Stef took the lead on the fourteenth with a net birdie, one of his five for the day. Facing a daunting task on the sixteenth with Stef stroking in and Brian down by one, Maraman responded with birdies on two of the final three holes, including clutch putts on the sixteenth and eighteenth, to force a playoff. Both players carded stellar gross scores of 69(Brian) and 78(Stef) in regulation play. The extra hole was a fitting climax to the match, with Maraman securing the title with another birdie - dropping another 15 footer on the first playoff hole. Well played gentleman !
