Epic Battle Unfolds on Rain-Soaked Course
A day that began with a dramatic display of thunder and lightning proved to be a fitting prelude to the epic battle that unfolded on the rain-soaked course.
Delayed by morning showers, the match between the two top contenders was a thrilling spectacle from start to finish. Maraman seized the early advantage with a birdie on the first hole—one of his six in the match. He maintained his lead until the eighth hole when Stef fought back to tie the match.
The back-and-forth continued, with Maraman regaining the advantage on the tenth hole, only to see Stef level it up again on the thirteenth. Stef took the lead on the fourteenth with a net birdie—one of his five for the day.
Facing a daunting task on the sixteenth, with Stef stroking in and Brian down by one, Maraman responded with birdies on two of the final three holes, including clutch putts on the sixteenth and eighteenth, to force a playoff.
Both players carded stellar gross scores of 69 (Brian) and 78 (Stef) in regulation play. The extra hole was a fitting climax to the match, with Maraman securing the title with another birdie—dropping a 15-footer on the first playoff hole.
Well played, gentlemen!
